5 Things I Wish I Could Tell My Younger Self - School Edition

Hello! With it being back to school season I thought I'd do a post with my 5 top tips I wish I could have given myself when I was back in school. If this post helps one person I will be happy! Also - if I sound like I'm talking like I am your bossy big sister then I'm sorry but it is meant with love and gentle encouragement. MAKE WISE CHOICES!

1. Studying - find what works for you

Radio on in the background / total silence / bullet pointed notes / spider grams / illustrations / work schedules / rewarding yourself after each topic / flash cards

I have worked as a Trainer and  at first I couldn't believe the amount of different learning techniques out there. For advice on what techniques might work best for you why not try this Learning Style Questionnaire which will point you in the right direction and give you guidance on how to adapt the way you study to get the best results.

2. Take school seriously

How you play it now will start to shape your life. You will never regret putting in the effort but you will regret mucking around and not giving it your full potential.

3. Be lovely to each other

Much like above, you will never look back and regret being kind and compassionate to the other students around you. Everyone is fighting their own battles whether it be with school work or other stuff going on in their lives - do what you can to be a positive impact rather than a negative one.

4. Stick in

No matter how difficult things may get try your best to focus on the end picture and what you can achieve. I didn't, I bailed at the first chance I got and ten years down the line I am doing a job that is not what I'm passionate about. This post might be the motivation I need actually!

5. Follow your heart

Pick subjects that interest you. Get involved in projects that you can be excited about. "Choose a job that you love and you will never have to work a day in your life."

I hope you are all settling back in to your school routines well! I assume that you have all used this as an opportunity to stock up on cute stationery yes? I swear I would spend all my wages on notepads and pens if I didn't have a stinkin' mortgage to pay.

I take that back, I love my house.

But still.

Give me all the pretty stationery.
