My Stay At Yellowscott Country Park, Fife

So as I mentioned here and here I spent my 27th (yikes) birthday weekend at Yellowscott Country Park. Can anyone actually believe that I'm 27? Say no. Anyway, I'd like to share my visit with you guys.

Ever since going away in March for a friend's birthday and spending lots of the weekend in a hot tub I've had serious hot tub withdrawal symptoms, so when it came to deciding how to celebrate my birthday this year I knew I wanted some hot tub action. After a few hours deliberating over several different places online I decided Yellowscott was the place for me. "Luxury self catering lodges with hot tubs in the Kingdom of Fife." We booked Ochil 8 as this is to accommodate two people and sounded perfect for me and my partner in crime. We booked in for a three night stay.

"Luxury one bedroom lodge, with super king size four poster bed. Open plan living/dining area, fully equipped kitchen including dishwasher. Private outdoor hot tub accessed from the bedroom. Superb views from the balcony over the surrounding countryside."

The lodge felt MASSIVE. I don't know what I was expecting but the pictures on the website really don't do the place any justice. Let me start with my favourite room.

Look at that bed! It's like a bed from The Sims. I swear I could roll over like twice before there was even any hint of finding my boyfriend. The room felt massive - so much more space for activities! It also had this really cool shoe seat and a vanity table for getting ready at. Also in the bedroom is a door leading to the highlight of the trip - the hot tub.

Look at that bad boy. I am getting jealous of past me as I'm writing this. Imagine spending your birthday evening sitting in this, looking up at the stars. It was just dreamy. I really loved the privacy too - the hot tub was fully enclosed meaning I was able to go to and from as I pleased without worrying about anyone seeing my pasty legs. Someone came around every morning to make sure it was all clean and hunky dory too. I could cry at the thought of not ending my day today relaxing in this.

The rest of the lodge was really spacious too and had pretty much everything we needed to keep us going for the whole time we were there. Cutlery, dishes, utensils, dishwasher, cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster and the list goes on. We took food and drink with us and didn't have to make an emergency dash to the shop once - hurrah!

Out the front door there was a lovely view of the sunset. How pretty is that? If you follow me on Instagram you'll know I'm obsessed with the sky/sunsets so this was another highlight for me. Very romantic! As was this lovely piece of wall art.

Are you ready for something pretty awesome? They keep free range hens who are all super friendly and made my day when they all came running over for a nosey at us.

I loved them! In the welcome pack it says that you can go down to their coop and help yourself to eggs for your breakfast. We didn't do this because I'm super fussy but thought that was a nice touch.

Okay - for the super serious TripAdvisor style part. In all honestly, my experience this past weekend surpassed what I expected from Yellowscott Country Lodges. The staff were always on site during the day however not once did we have to contact them for anything - brilliant. I noticed someone on TripAdvisor saying they couldn't sleep due to the noise of the hot tub, my boyfriend slept like a baby and although I am a light sleeper I wouldn't say noise from the hot tub had any negative impact on our stay. Also, there were other lodges close by however as I mentioned, the hot tub is privately enclosed and at no point did I feel like our stay was interrupted by other visitors. It wasn't the most modern or luxury accommodation I have ever stayed in however it was homely, cosy and romantic which definitely made the stay more enjoyable than previous trips to five star hotels. I would definitely recommend staying here and will indeed be booking to go back in the future.

Just before I finish - I am now the owner of a proper camera so from now on rather than phone pictures I'll be able to post much better quality pictures. The camera was a birthday present from my boyfriend (thanks angelface) but sadly didn't arrive in time to capture our trip away.

  1. This looks like such a gorgeous place to stay and I am a HUGE hot tub lover so that is definitely a bonus! The hens are so cute! So glad you enjoyed yourself! XO -Kim

    1. The hot tub was definitely the highlight of the trip! Could spend hours bubbling away xx
