Bah Humbug...NOT

So last Christmas was probably my least fave Christmas ever. I really just wasn't in the mood. How horrid is that? For some reason my mind just wasn't having it therefore on Christmas day I was just pretty beige. NOT AGAIN. NOT ON MY WATCH. (and by my watch, I mean this super cute cat watch that my sister has ordered for me for Christmas).

I've decided to make a list of all the Christmassy things I'm going to do from now until the big day to make sure I'm in the Christmas spirit. Do you think I've said Christmas enough in this post? If you have any ideas for me please tell me and help me be merry.

Just before I start on the list I'll be honest with you guys. I've always had a weird relationship with Christmas. When I was younger and in primary school, I used to get so excited on Christmas morning that I'd throw up and everyone would have to wait until I'd gotten myself together before the present opening could begin.

Also, on a yearly basis, it's guaranteed that I'm going to have my "Christmas breakdown". Why? I have no idea. And I have no idea what's gonna set it off every year either. One year it was because my cousin had a sickness bug and I didn't want everyone to catch it, then another year it was because I couldn't get a tin of cat food open. Hopefully I get it out of the way quite early this year.

A text from my mum last year. What a laugh for ol' mem.

Christmassy Things To Do To Make Me Feel Christmassy

  • Advent calendars! I had one last year but didn't make time for it every morning so I will this year.

  • Over the top Christmas jumpers. I really want the drake one (click).

  • Watch Love Actually! And Home Alone. Miracle on 34th Street, Muppet Christmas Carol, Trading Places. What else can I watch?!?

  • Get Christmas eve jammies. My mum always used to make sure we had new jammies for Christmas eve but I had to go and grow up and move out and stuff. So yeah, bringing it back this year! I have my eye on these Coca Cola ones. I looooooooove Coca Cola and my set of cola jammies are starting to look a bit old, and thanks to my marvellous tumble drying skills have started to creep up my legs a lil bit.

  • Christmas music!!!!! I don't care what anyone says, it doesn't feel like Christmas until I have hurt my throat singing along to The Darkness. Chriiiiiistmaaaas tiiiiiiime, don't let the bells ennndddd! I'll maybe create a Spotify playlist, or go on the hunt for one already made.

  • Surprises. This year I've picked a lot more presents for people than I usually would (hello vouchers, you so easy). My boyfriend and I have decided not to go overboard this year but instead to buy each other a few little surprises to bring back some excitement.

  • Decorate my WHOLE HOUSE. I'm legit gonna have Christmas decor everywhere. I don't want to be able to go into a room without seeing Santa/reindeer/mistletoe or something else Christmassy.

  • Look Who's Talking Now! I just remembered about this movie. Deffo getting watched.

Do you guys have any ideas for me? What do you do to get into the festive spirit? I'd love some tips if you have any. I don't want to be the grinch two years in a row. (another movie for the list!)

  4. Great ideas, you should definitely try to go to a Christmas market or at least indulge in some festive Mulled wine. =^-^=

    1. Mulled wine is something I have never tried! Christmas market is definitely a shout, I usually put off because I hate the cold but I think I need to suck it up and just wrap up! x

  5. I too want to get a bit festive this year, although I won't be home over Christmas as I'll be abroad and so now I want everything being as christmassy as possible right away, haha! Christmas baking is always one of my favorite things (Christmas honestly offer the best sweets) and Christmas music is on repeat (I listen to Zoe Sugg's Christmas playlist, I consider her a little bit of a Christmas expert and so she's in charge of my holiday music, haha) But I am out looking for some things to decorate my home, and I haven't been able to find anything that I've fallen in love with yet.. Well, at least not to a reasonable price and so that is on my to do list to get in the Christmas spirit! :)

    1. I'll have a look for that playlist, thank you! Will you be somewhere warm for Christmas?! I actually have a few Christmas ornaments so I think I'll get them out, maybe tomorrow haha! I feel like maybe the sooner I get involved, the more festive I might feel...

I'm thinking..what Christmas colours do I want to go for in my house. Like do I want masses of colour, red, white, silver, gold or do I want a certain colour theme. So much to consider haha! x

  6. Okay, first of all: those pyjamas are so adorable! Coca Cola is pretty much my first love (terrible, I know).

I love the effort you're putting into enjoying Christmas again! I think it will definitely be worth it. The one suggestion I have is one that I'm not sure applies to where you live, but I'll tell ya anyway ;) One Christmas Eve my family and I jump into the car and drive around town at night and look at the decorations and lights people have put up. And of course the radio is playing Christmas music all the while and so on. I really enjoy it!

For myself I'm trying to not get too caught up in Christmas too early. I don't want to hype it up for weeks and weeks and then have the day itself fall flat, so I'm holding off on the major celebrating for another week or so!

    1. I feel you, Coca Cola is my fave. I think that is such a lovely tradition. Depending on the weather I might make that a new one of mine :) (I panic so much driving in the snow/ice). I'm always at my most content when I'm singing in the car so can see this working well!

      Thank you :) x

  7. You know, I think you've just about got everything down for celebrating Christmas! I also think it's really cute that you used to get so worked up as a child! You've brought back some serious memories with Look whose talking now!! I loved that film!
