My 5 Goals for 2016!

I've never been one for sticking to my New Year's resolutions so this year I am going to set some "goals" that I can aim towards and therefore won't want to kick my own head in if it takes me a while to make them routine.

1. Get out of the house!

As you might have read in my last post, I'm a big fan of cancelling plans and staying home instead. Not because I don't want to go out but because I all too often just give in to the fear. In 2016 I am going to make a conscious effort to stick two fingers up at the fear and spend some time outwith my safety bubble at home. This leads on nicely to number 2...

2. See more people!

Sure, I love my cats and my boyfriend, but it would certainly be healthy to spend more time with other people. I speak to my cats as I'm going about daily life and they have started meowing back and answering me so yeah, I think it's time to sort myself out. I noticed someone recently say that they were going to try the 5/2 approach - 5 nights at home and 2 nights of the week spent out and about, meeting up with friends/family and I think this could be a really good shout. (I can't for the life of me remember where I read this but if you know please tell me so I can credit appropriately!).  

3. Drink water!

I rarely drink water which is terrible. I know I'm really going to struggle with this one so if you have any tips on how to actively increase my water intake please help a girl out! 

4. Become a super organised blogger.

I've recently become an avid reader of and I cannot get over how much Corinne is nailing the whole blogging game. I don't think I'm quite at the stage yet of being able to post every day but this blog is certainly making me want to produce content more regularly and just get my arse in gear in general. Hurray for inspiring bloggers!

5. Explore Scotland!

I am a pain in the arse. I was lucky enough to be born in one of the most beautiful countries in the world and I haven't taken advantage of it at all. With being such a home-body, I find going abroad quite challenging. I went to Palma Nova in May 2015 for one week, which was my second time abroad and first time since I was like 10, and as beautiful as it was, I was a nervous wreck and wanting home pretty much the whole time. I think this year is the year of stay-cations. I've already booked a long weekend away at the end of January to visit a luxury lodge complete with private hot tub to celebrate my boyfriend's recent promotion - maybe 2016 will also be the year of hot tubs? (I wish).

So there we have it. Some goals for me to work towards this year. What do you think? Also, if you have been somewhere in Scotland that you've loved please tell me so that I can check it out and add it to my list for the year!

  1. I surely need to go out more, I am not a socially good person. I do fear to make a full out of myself and just be rejected. So, I really need to get a grip and talk to others, I am sure they don't bite. ALSO, I really do need to drink more water, if you will find a way to drink more of it, let me know. I do forget it and it's not good for me. I don't even drink a lot of drinks in general, last year I fainted from lack of water in my body. Yep, that happened.

    I wish you just the best with your goals, I think you can really make them work :) x

    I totally understand what you mean about not drinking enough - although I haven't fainted I get migraines when I'm dehydrated. Not good!

    I think confidence is something that would do us both good! You are right - (most) people don't bite - I need to keep that in mind! xx

  3. I am so with you on the always ending up staying at home... it's so bad. Even if I go out and have a great time, when I get home I end up having a panic attack while trying to fall asleep because I freak out about the change in routine/how late it is. UGH!! But I love the goal of going out two nights a week! That's so smart, and so attainable. And also great (for me at least) because it'll be more scheduled.

    I've been a water freak lately, and the thing that really helps is just carrying a water bottle around with you alllll the time. Find one you really like that's easy to transport (and super cute obvi). Then whenever you look at the water bottle, take a drink. It'll form a habit, and soon you won't even think about it! A year ago I was terrible about drinking water, and would have some like once every few days... but now I fill up my water bottle 2 or 3 times a day.

    1. I get you about the routine thing! I like to be in my house in plenty of time to wind down and think about getting to bed and stuff and if I end up out I find it really throws me off and my mood just dips like crazy, and I get really tense. So yeah, scheduled nights could be the way forward for us!

      It's funny, I read this comment in my emails this morning on the way to work so when I got in, I got lots of water and every time I looked at it I was like OH take a drink! Hopefully I'll soon start doing it as habit like you say!

  5. Happy New Year!(even if it's a little late!) Good luck with all your goals for this year, I hope you achieve them all :)

    I also need to get out of the house more. My therapist keeps pushing me too but I always cancel my plans at the last minute because my depression is bad or I'm too anxious. I really need to stop doing it!

      It's much easier for us to say we'll stop doing it than it will be for us to put it into practice but we deserve to go out and have fun just as much as the next person. Let's get on this. x

  6. I cant stick to resolutions either... I last a day and then, FAIL. Although, this year I've said I want to start the gym, eat healthy, drink more water, improve my blog, concentrate on positivity and happiness and be more confident. Hopefully I stick to them longer than 1 day this year haha. I hope you achieve all your goals, I'd love to get out of the house more and socialize with more people, I'm such a hermit!! xxx

  7. I love number 5! I am also from Scotland and I've never actually explored much of it - especially the west coast which I'm told is home to some of the most beautiful places.

    The Piperdam lodges are brilliant, you're going to have an ace time.

  8. I would also like to drink more water too. Not that I don't drink water much. I drink water every day, however some days I don't always make it to the 2l mark. So I am more aiming to get to that 2l mark every day. Another one of my "goals" this year is to connect more with my loved ones. I appreciate all my family and friends and really want to spend more time with them. So this year, I am aiming to make more time for my loved ones. Yes life does get in the way, but it shouldn't be the case where it always gets in the way. Wow..I really rambled there.
