Glasgow's First Live Escape Game

If you follow me on Twitter (where I have been v. quiet as of late due to work - boo) you may remember me banging on about having booked in to experience Escape for my boyfriend's birthday. Without going into too much detail so as not to ruin it for those of you who want to give it a try, I'm going to write a little bit about our experience!

Glasgow's first live Escape game - locked in a mysterious room with 60 minutes to get out. Do you have what it takes to escape?

Escape is a new, fun, challenging live escape game in Glasgow City Centre. Designed for groups of 2 - 5. With 3 rooms in operation we can accommodate teams of up to 15.

We lock you up in a mysterious room and give you exactly 60 minutes to get out. In order to beat the live escape game you and your team must solve many puzzles, riddles, brain teasers and identify clues. Using your powers of observation and problem solving you and your team will have to work together to escape.

DUN DUN DUNNNNNN.

We escaped! *cough* with like three minutes to spare but who's counting? Nailed it.

When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely member of staff who reassured us that this wasn't some Saw ish where you have to chop off your own limbs and stuff and that if we didn't manage to escape he would let us out rather than keep us in there forever. Phew.

He then led us into the mysterious room where we had to find the first clue and get started, all the while he kept an eye on us via a camera (not as creepy as I've made it sound) and fed us clues if we looked like we needed help.

Escape is a really good way to piss off your boyfriend by not listening to his silly ideas and then laughing manically when they turned out to be legit but he can't be grumpy about it because hello camera. It is also a good way to make you wanna punch yourself in the head for not sussing out the easiest of clues right away.

We loved it. We spent the whole day in Glasgow (love you Glasgow) walking, eating and drinking and this was a really cool way to break it up and create a lil different birthday memory. Would I recommend it? Yessiree. I especially think this would be great for team building games at work - if I was a manager I'd be a totally cool manager (I'm not a regular mom I'm a cool mom) and bring my team here.

Have you ever played one of the Escape games? Did you manage to escape?
Also, do you have any other different ideas for memorable birthdays?
My birthday isn't until October but it'd be good to get a few ideas. Usually I opt for dinner and drinks but this year I turn 28 and omg help me have memorable birthdays before I run out of them.

  1. I'm so glad you had fun and congrats on escaping. I think they do this in Leeds and now I'm really interested. I like just going somewhere new for Birthdays, the adventure creates memories. =^-^=

  2. I love escape rooms! (I'm pretty sure I have already told you that haha) My mother's manager is a cool manager and he lets to have fun activities like escape rooms for his employees. You are right, it is a wonderful team building way :) Also, I have been to 2 rooms so far but I'm planning on going to a new one soon. It's supposed to be related with Da Vinci and his works :)
